The Mission

The November/December Layers Back Page Design Contest focuses on Web design. Your mission is to create a homepage and one product page for a company that sells applications for a fictitious mobile device (smartphone, handheld gaming system, etc). The homepage should have an illustration of the mobile device along with a few featured apps. The product page should be devoted to one of the feature apps from the homepage.

The Judging

Before you begin designing your site, be sure to read the cover story from the November/December 2008 issue of Layers magazine. It’s called “3 Keys for Designing for the Web,” and it starts on page 30. After you read it, be sure to follow some of the key concepts presented in the article for design, usability, and visibility. The judges will be looking at the overall design, creativity, and usability of each webpage.

The Prize

The winner will receive a copy of Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium. That’s a $1,699 value! Just imagine the websites you could build with the latest versions of Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, and more—all at your disposal!

The Deadline

January 9, 2009 (The winner will be announced in the March/April 2009 issue of Layers magazine.)
