Episode Summary

Corey talks about aligning and distributing inside of Illustrator.

  • Selecting a group of objects and aligning them will align them relative to the selection
  • After selecting a group of objects, you can click and highlight one of them and align all of the objects to it
  • Distribute spacing allows for even spacing between all of the selected objects
  • Users can align objects to a selection, an artboard, or a key object
  • When using multiple artboards, select which artboard the objects will be aligned to

RC has a tutorial about creating a basic template inside of Dreamweaver.

  • Design a simple web page layout in Photoshop and use the slice tool to divide up the images you want to use in the site
  • Save for web or devices and use the options panel to select the file types of the saved graphics
  • To keep things organized, create a site folder inside the web site’s project folder. This will hold everything that is used in the site design
  • In Dreamweaver, create a new site and label the site folder as the local root folder
  • Create a new page, index.htm
  • Create some CSS styles for your site layout
  • Create containers inside the page to hold the content
  • Drag the sliced images from the site folder into the container areas
  • After laying out the basic page, create a template
  • Add an editable region with the other portions of the page locked from changes
  • Drag the template layout from the assets panel onto any new page
  • Templates are a real time saver, especially when it comes to making changes to the layout throughout the site
